Treat your quotes with respect. Don't alter the quote to make the story more exciting or intersting. Journalists can get in trouble if they don't obey the rules of the quotation. The quotation rules. Always attribute appropriately so the reader is absolutely certain who has said what. However, it is not neccessary to over attribute. That can cause readers feeling annoyed due to the redundancy. Use extreme caution when using partial quotes as they are as dangerous as unstable plutonium. Partial quotes can distort the source's quote and often sound ridiculous.
